This review is regarding a Fusion I had on my right ankle in 2019. I just wanted to say what an amazing job Mr. Dawes made. I have no problems at all after years of pain and I have had to attend two separate physio to a knee problem. They have said that they can not believe how much moment there is in my ankle. I would like to say thank again.

Edward was friendly and fantastic at listening to and understanding specific concerns relating to my sporting pursuits. He clearly explained the pros and cons of various options and was happy to go into the details, which was both confidence inspiring and interesting. If you have a foot or ankle problem getting in the way of your sport then Mr Dawe seems like a great person to speak to.

I had a very large arthritic bunion on my right foot, making it impossible to wear enclosed shoes.Mr Dawe has removed it leaving the foot looking normal and working normally. His "sewing" is exemplary, leaving only a thin very neat scar.Recovery and healing were all good. I had a small deformity on my little toe causing discomfort walking in shoes, which he delt with successfully at my request. I very nearly never give five star ratings -but I have this time. The Covid precautions and procedures to be followed at Chichester Nuffield were more demanding than other hospitals were requiring at the time for similar procedures, general staff support at all levels was, however, efficient and pleasant . Were I did have problems was with a pre existing back condition which was conciderably aggravated by the process followed ,I could have done with warning/advice on that.

Profile

Mr Dawe is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon specialising in disorders of the foot and ankle.

He treats orthopaedic trauma, as well as a wide variety of foot and ankle pathologies such as bunions, lesser toe problems, arthritis, flat or high-arched feet, foot complications of diabetes and complex revision surgery of all types.

Mr Dawe uses numerous techniques to help with foot and ankle problems and is often able to avoid surgery. Where surgery is needed, arthroscopic or ‘keyhole’ techniques or minimally invasive surgery can often be used to improve the experience and recovery time after surgery.

Mr Dawe completed his training in South West London, during which he worked for numerous different foot and ankle surgeons in London, Sussex and Surrey.

He broadened his experience with limb reconstruction and complex trauma fellowship at St George's Hospital with Alex Trompeter and, following this, a second year-long fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital with Heath Taylor.

Mr Dawe was awarded the BOFAS visiting fellowship in 2014, travelling to the Schonklinik in Munich in order to work with Prof Markus Walther, president of the German foot and ankle society. He also travelled to Regions Trauma Centre in Minneapolis to visit the renowned trauma specialist professor Peter Cole.

Mr Dawe works as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in West Sussex. He has been involved in developing the future of his specialty, publishing numerous research papers and having been awarded first prizes for his work at national and international meetings.
